Metropolis
the human behaves autonomously within the caos of civil structure.

-remember marx bby please, and some metropolis theory. ibacs notes yeah.
When introducing myself and my intentions to Post-Post I mentioned the quotidien human and the state apparatus. Following the weeks in the Post Post explorations I have developed a major interest in the behaviours and roboticism of the metropolis and its beings. I have turned my focus on the major metropolis Bogotá, Colombia.
I had the privilidge to take this project abroad, basing most of my exploration period in Bogotá. I could say I was doing field research when capturing photographs and mentally placing myself in a metropolis (which no longer is my home) so distinct to where I currently am based.
Bogotá D.C. the capital city of Colombia with approx. 7,300,000 inhabitants and 2,625 meters above sea level. She's huge, with unstable weather, high crime rates, pictoresque montains surrounding her, a diversity in people and produce, thirving queer and trans communities, obverwhelming street art, the home of hundreds of domesticated and street animals, 6 different stratums of social class and thick innequality between the rich and poor. As corrupt as the next South American country, Colombian's are the nevertheless the warmest humans you can encounter.
I'm in love with her, Bogotá.
To properly engulf myself in this anthropological exploration into my old home and harsh reality, I had to eliminate schematas in my head of how the city rolls. It was easy to locate myself in the roll of a tourist, this involves finding the quotidien reality of others an art project for me. I find it so hard to be respectful within my exploration and photographs. There's so much ethics that comes into photorgraphing of how I decide to mimic the reality.
Recording audios of the metropolis and her sounds to combat passiveness when inhabiting her.
documentation and thought elaboration was captured through poetry.
What is it about the streets of Bogotá that makes me want to document it beyond any other?

Por cruda mijita, por cruda.
